The 26th Annual SGANC Four-Ball Gross/Net Championship teed off at 1:00pm Monday, September 12th, under what could only be described as “chamber of commerce” conditions. The sun was shining with very negligible breezes over the Bayonet/Blackhorse golf courses. Conditions for golf were perfect as was the condition of the Blackhorse 18. With the 49 team field divided into 3 flights the competition was keen for the 15 prizes offered as part of the 2 day competition.

Day 2, with the challenge of Bayonet Golf Course and an 8:00 am shotgun start featured conditions more common at the seaside Resort. The players teed off in cool, clear over cast conditions but were immediately met by the arrival of coastal fog which moved back out to sea by about 9:30am, leaving a breezy but cool rest of the day. The spirit and camaraderie of the players truly exhibited the mission statement of the Senior Golf Association of Northern California which is to; “introduce a spirit of friendly congeniality among those golfers of senior age”.

The event banquet on Monday evening honored Darrell Biddy the outgoing President and welcomed Robert Sciutto, who chaired the tournament committee which is directly responsible for making the 2011 event special. The 2012 tournament schedule was announced, by Chairman Tom Marx, on Monday night. The 86th SGANC Championship will be held April 30 – May 1st at Sharon Heights and Los Altos Country Clubs. The 27th Annual Four-Ball Championship will be held at Grey’s Crossing and Old Greenwood Golf Courses, September 10-11, in the Lake Tahoe area. Make your plans early to play in both events at truly great venues.
